The latest issue of Game Informer dives deep into Insomniac’s big PS5 launch title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It also drops some hints about the series’s future.
What comes after Miles Morales?
Notably, the developer isn’t discussing any plans to release DLC for the Miles game, whereas the 2018 Spider-Man title received three post-launch expansions.
Does this mean Insomniac’s focus is going to pivot to the next big Peter Parker story right away? Or is there a chance that Miles Morales could still get some post-launch content?
It sounds like the PS5 launch title will likely be a standalone “chapter” in the larger Insomniac Spidey saga, with the studio’s efforts shifting to the next mainline release.
That doesn’t rule out new Miles suits and other features to keep folks playing, though. Spider-Man (2018) got an incredible amount of support after release.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is inevitable
Miles and Peter team up to take down the Rhino — probably early on in the new sequel — but don’t expect all the story threads from the 2018 game to get resolved in Miles’s spinoff.
“The threads from the first game still exist, but we’re really focusing on Miles’s chapter and how he is going to become Spider-Man,” creative director Brian Horton told Game Informer.
So don’t expect all that stuff with Harry and Norman Osborn to get resolved in Miles’s story; any big Green Goblin or Venom reveals will probably come in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a couple years from now.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will reportedly run in 4K at up to 60 frames per second, or 30 fps with ray tracing, without any noticeable load times on PS5.
The game hits PS4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12.
