Riot Games Sues Vietnamese Developer For "Copying" League of Legends Spin-Off

League of Legends creator Riot Games has filed a new lawsuit against Imba Network, a Vietnamese developer. This latest lawsuit alleges that Imba created a knock-off of a LoL spin-off, auto battler Teamfight Tactics.

Confirmed in a Reuters report, Riot accused Imba of stealing Teamfight Tactics' "visual designs, names, abilities and background stories," incorporating it into their game "I Am Hero: AFK Tactical Teamfight."

A statement from Riot's lawyers confirms:

"Imba's plan that potential customers would recognize the Infringing Game's heroes was successful. Many players commented on the outright copying of LoL champions in the Infringing Game."

This isn't the first time Riot has sued a developer for allegedly imitating elements from their games. In 2017, Riot filed a lawsuit against Moonton over Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, though that case was dismissed. As for League of Legends, patch 12.2 went live on January 20th, and patch 12.3 will follow on February 2nd. Make sure to follow us for more gaming news and updates as it happens.
