The new Steam release of Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts remasters have been remastered again, with improved textures coming after three years of Epic Games Store exclusivity.

Square Enix confirmed that 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX is receiving improved textures to make the collection's four games look better than ever. Fans will be able to see these remastered visuals in Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, and Birth by Sleep: Final Mix. Unfortunately, the included film versions of Re:Coded and 358/2 Days won't see these improvements.

Before Epic Games users turn Heartless, Square Enix confirmed the same remastered visuals for Kingdom Hearts are coming to the Epic store version as a free update. This means that no players, on PC at least, will miss out on these awesome new visuals.

With various insiders reporting that the series will also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, it will be interesting to see if these textures make it to future console version of the game. Assuming the rumors are true, the new Nintendo system might end up having better ports of this series than on PS4 and Xbox. Only time will tell if that’s going to happen, but Nintendo users might finally get native versions of these games.

Kingdom Hearts fans everywhere lost their mind when Square Enix announced Steam versions of these beloved action RPGs, and these remastered visuals add to that. PC versions of these games were readily available on the Epic Games Store, but Steam users are a stubborn bunch. Now that the Steam Deck exists, Valve’s fanbase will be even more stubborn as they can now bring these games around with them.

Disney and Square Enix’s beloved Kingdom Hearts games are coming to Steam next month, on June 13. The mysterious Kingdom Hearts 4 still doesn’t have a release date, but fans can expect it to come out on current-gen systems.
