Star Wars: Hunters is a surprisingly good time on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, so it’s a shame that gamers on other consoles are missing out. Fans were originally down on Hunters, since it seemed like a greedy free-to-play game, but reception to the game’s release has been positive thus far.

Hunters was released on Switch and mobile devices this week, after the shooter was originally soft-launched in other countries for its beta period. Despite early reception to the game being a bit negative, fans have come around to the shooter now that it’s on Switch and smartphones.

Fans are now hoping to see Star Wars: Hunters on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, which would widen the appeal of this shooter. At the time of writing, developer Zynga hasn’t revealed any plans to bring Hunters to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, or PC. That can always change, this is a Star Wars game after all, but it might take a while before we see this shooter on other systems.

No console exclusivity was announced for Hunters, so it’s only a matter of time before the free-to-play shooter makes its way to PlayStation and Xbox. Both consoles are much more powerful than the Switch, though that doesn’t seem to be an issue for the game right now.

While fans would have preferred a Star Wars Battlefront 3, it seems that Star Wars: Hunters is filling that need right now. The game also has similarities to other hero shooters like Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends, so fans can expect more characters to be added. At the time of writing, only original characters have been revealed for Hunters, so it’s not clear if heroes or villains from the films will be added.

Star Wars: Hunters isn’t coming to PlayStation or Xbox anytime soon, so fans will have to make due with the Switch and mobile versions. Luckily, the game is free-to-play, though fans will have to pay if they want extra currency and skins for their heroes.
