Starfield boasts Bethesda’s biggest open-world yet. With over 1,000 planets to discover among more than 100 star systems, the game’s scale is so massive it’s still taking us a while to comprehend. But however big, it’s still just a game, and like any game, the biggest question for fans following release is will Starfield get DLC?

Will Starfield get DLC?
Shattered Space is the first post-launch DLC expansion announced for Starfield by Bethesda. As of now, a release date has not been announced for this expansion. However, despite how big the expansion is looking to be, we can expect it sometime in the first few months (or at least the first half) of 2024.
To purchase the Shattered Space expansion now, you will have to own Starfield: Premium Edition or Starfield: Constellation Edition. Both are priced at 99.99 USD/GBP and 299.99 USD/GBP respectively. If you’ve already purchased the Standard Edition and are a Game Pass member, you also have the option of the Starfield: Premium Edition Upgrade for 34.99 USD/GBP, which gives you all the perks a regular Premium Edition holder receives, including the Shattered Space DLC.
So far, there hasn’t been word from Bethesda on whether Shattered Space will be available for standalone purchase, so if you’re just interested in this single expansion without the bells and whistles of the Premium Eedition, your safe bet is to wait until more information comes out.
What content is lanned for the Starfield Shattered Space DLC?
As of now, we don’t know much about the content of Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion. What we do know is that they're definitely throwing in more story missions, and that it will make the scale of the game even larger than it currently is. Unfortunately, the exact details are pretty vague at this point. We're basically in a "wait and see" period for Bethesda to drop more hints or information.
Still, with the many great expansions Bethesda has under its belt, like Oblivion’s Shivering Isles and Fallout 3’s Broken Steel, it’s hard to see them dropping the ball on Starfield’s first ever DLC.
Is Starfield DLC planned after Shattered Space?
In an interview during June’s Starfield Direct, Bethesda Director Todd Howard mentioned plans to create "a lot of add-on content for Starfield." He further emphasised plans of creating story-based expansions, saying "we love doing it. Our fans love it. We’re going to do a story expansion pack that’s going to be coming."
So, if you’re loving Starfield now, buckle up because the show’s not over. Hopefully, we get an exhaustive expansion calendar from Bethesda to shed light on their long-term plans for the game sometime soon.
