How to pay off a bounty in Starfield
First, it's important to know what causes you to have a bounty on your head in Starfield. Usually, this is obtained by doing illegal things such as stealing, lockpicking, assaulting people, killing people, and other typically frowned-upon activities. However, a bounty is only placed if someone catches you doing any of the aforementioned illegal acts.
Moreover, bounties are also linked to the location and faction where you committed the illegal act. An example of this is that if you do something illegal in New Atlantis, your bounty will be tied to the United Colonies. But if you commit a crime in Neon, then the Freestar Collective will catch you instead.
To pay off the bounty from the United Colonies, you'll have to speak to either the guard at the security checkpoint of New Atlantis or Sergeant Yumi near the Security Office. You'll be able to pay your bounty through them.
If you need to pay for your crimes against the Freestar Collective, you then have to go to the Akila City on the planet Akila. You'll be required to speak to Akila City Security so you can pay off your bounty.
Moreover, if you've committed a crime against groups not under those two factions, the way you pay off your bounty will then depend on them.
Another way to pay off your bounties is through owning an Outpost. With it, you can build a Self-Service Bounty Clearance kiosk. This requires the following materials:
- 4x Aluminum
- 2x Zero Wire
- 2x Beryllium
Having this kiosk lets you pay your bounties for either the United Colonies or Freestar Collective which makes it more convenient for you to clear your name and not have to go through the hassle of travelling.
