Are you on the search for information about how to save in Starfield? If so, then you’re in luck as this brief guide will document the process of saving your game.
Starfield is widely touted as a serious action RPG that players can sink thousands of hours into, with its story taking place in and around a region of outer space known as the Settled Systems.
Its developers, Bethseda Game Studios, have incorporated a whole host of options for saving the game. This is hugely important because all it takes is an unexpected crash or a power outage for players to lose their progress. So, let’s get right down to business by highlighting the different ways in which this game can be saved.
How to manually save in Starfield
Players can take the matter into their own hands with manual saving. The first step here is to press the menu button, as this action will open up the “Data Menu”.
From there, simply select the “Save” tab and you'll be prompted to create a manual save file which can then be stored in a location of your choice.
Here’s what this menu looks like:
This manual option is great if players wish to return to a certain part of their space adventure at a later date, as you’ll be creating a separate save file for it.
You can also see a “Quicksave” option located right at the top of the aforementioned menu. This particular tool can be used to overwrite a previous save point.
What this basically means is that you will lose access to the previous save point that you had before, which is useful if you don’t intend to return to that point in the game world.
Other saving options in Starfield
This game also presents you with a handful of different customization options for automatically saving your progress.
Within the “Gameplay” sub menu - which is located by navigating to the “Settings” tab on the main menu – you are given the flexibility to:
- Save on rest – autosave is activated when you go to sleep
- Save on wait – autosave is enabled here when you are waiting to skip time
- Save on travel – autosave is turned on when you fast travel
Finally, gamers have been given even more flexibility when it comes to saving their progress as Starfield presents you the option to save after different time intervals.
If you choose to activate the “save on pause” option within the Gameplay Menu, you can save progress once the game is paused after a preferred amount of time.
This could be after:
- 5 minutes
- 10 minutes
- 15 minutes
- 30 minutes
- 45 minutes
- 60 minutes
So, there you have it!
