The roster of Super Mario Party Jamboree features 20 base characters, plus two secret characters that offer extra playable choices you can unlock later in the game.
It can be somewhat tricky to figure out how to unlock these two characters. However, with this article, you'll learn how to unlock the secret characters and expand your character lineup easily.
How To Unlock Pauline and Ninji in Super Mario Party Jamboree
The two secret characters in question are Pauline and Ninji.
Pauline was one of the first female characters in the Mario franchise and was absent for many years, so this news feels nostalgic.
Ninji has recently become a fan favorite due to its quirky, stealthy ninja-like look, despite originally starting out as an enemy in earlier Mario titles.
Unlocking these secret characters does not require completing the entire game or achieving high ranks in difficult modes. Pauline can be found by flying to a hidden location on the game’s world map.
After entering the Party Plaza, you’ll need to board the Hot Air Balloon, which gives you an aerial view of different areas. As you’re flying, navigate towards the Minigame Bay, a major game hub.
Pauline is standing on a small sandy island to the left of the bay. Once you spot her, use the zoom function (press the X button) to zoom in and interact with her (by pressing A).
After doing this, Pauline will be unlocked, and you can select her in future games. New themed items will also be available for purchase in the Card Shop, located back at the Party Plaza.
You can unlock Ninji in pretty much the same way. After boarding the Hot Air Balloon, move your view towards the Rhythm Kitchen. Ninji is located on a grassy island behind the Rhythm Kitchen (standing on the taller of two rocks).
As with Pauline, you need to zoom in and interact with him. Once unlocked, you can select Ninji for all game modes, and more items will be added to the Card Shop.
After unlocking them, you can use Pauline and Ninji on any board or minigame without needing to restart any ongoing playthroughs.
Unlike previous Mario Party games, there are no unique dice mechanics for each character in Super Mario Party Jamboree.
