Sephiroth is the next fighter coming to Smash Ultimate in update v10.0.0.
The latest brawler in the Switch title is being made available a week early for those that can complete the Sephiroth challenge!
But what is this challenge and how can you participate?
Here's how to do it.
How To Unlock Sephiroth In Smash Ultimate
Firstly, you'll need to own the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 to be able to unlock the fighter.
Once you have the pass, you will need to boot up Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
From the Main Menu screen, press the Start/Pause button or + button to load up the Sephiroth challenge.
The Sephiroth Challenge can not be activated by the menu cursor
The Sephiroth menu will appear and ask you to 'press any button' - doing so will give you a selection of difficulties.
- Easy
- Normal
- Very Hard
It doesn't matter which difficulty you select, but we recommend Easy to get it done fast.
During the Sakurai Presents Sephiroth stream, he explained that initially, they had the idea that players who couldn’t win wouldn’t be able to use the fighter until December 22; luckily the idea was scrapped.
This will load up an HP battle with the following health distributions:
- Easy - Sephiroth having 100 HP and you having 150 HP
- Normal - Sephiroth having 150 HP and you having 150 HP
- Very Hard - Sephiroth having 200 HP and you having 150 HP
Sephiroth is fast and has good range with that long sword he wields.
We'd recommend using characters that have range attacks or projectiles to get the upper hand.
Here are some good counters to Sephiroth:
- Link
- Young Link
- Toon Link
- Samus
- Mega Man
- Mewtwo
- Cloud
- Corrin
- Palutena
- Chrom
- Roy
- Marth
- Zero Suit Samus
- Snake
- Villager
- Zelda
This should avoid him getting in close and stop you being effected by his counter moves.
The CPU will dive in aggressively at you, so if you keep your distance and chip away at its health you should be able to complete it easily.
