Yesterday, we brought you the first member of our talent panel. Today, it’s time to confirm the attendance of the fourth team, Team Dignitas!
History
Formed in 2003, following the merger of two Battlefield 1942 teams, Team Dignitas are one of the most storied and respected organisations within the European eSports scene.
Based in the United Kingdom, Dignitas are renowned for their professionalism and their desire to become one of the best professional gaming teams in the worlds. Currently, Team Dignitas field competitive teams across some of the largest eSports titles, including, League of Legends, FIFA, SMITE, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, StarCraft II and of course, Counter Strike.
Within Counter Strike, Team Dignitas have been actively involved with the competitive community since 2006, however, it wasn’t until 2014, through the acquisition of über G33KZ, that Dignitas began to truly make a name for themselves and cement their role as one of the most promising teams.
Almost a year after joining Dignitas, in January 2015, the all-star Danish squad announced their official departure from the UK based organisation, as they began a new journey under Team SoloMid.
However, following the announcement, Team Dignitas unveiled their new roster, and thus began a new chapter of their CS:GO career.
Team Spotlight and Recent Performances
Team Dignitas: MSL | Kjaerbye | tenzki | k0nfig | RUBINO
Initially, Team Dignitas experienced mixed results throughout the 2015 season, as the team struggled with consistency and communications issues. As a result, Dignitas underwent several roster changes throughout the year, before the formation of their current roster; Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye, Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen, Jesper "tenzki" Mikalski, Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke and Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel.
Since then, Dignitas have seemingly improved as a team, having only finished outside the top four, seven times in their last twenty outings, defeating FlipSid3 2-1 in the first CEVO Season 9 European qualifier.
However, it’s worth noting that these unsatisfactory results are typically earned at major events, when the pressure is at its highest, i.e. failing to quality for the recent MLG Major Championship: Columbus.
Final Comments:
Despite their inconsistency, recent results have reiterated the fact that Team Dignitas are a roster who possess the ability to overcome any opposition, epitomised by their recent victories over Ninjas in Pyjamas and their arch-rivals, Astralis, at the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2016.
