While there is still no news about The Elder Scrolls VI in sight, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is now set to arrive in current-gen platforms according to a leak shared by Nate the Hate during his latest podcast.
According to Nate, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will run on Unreal Engine 5, similar to Black Myth: Wukong and the upcoming The Witcher 4. This will make Cyrodil and its neighboring towns visually stunning thanks to Unreal Engine 5's improved lighting and global illumination system.
Bethesda hasn't released anything officially yet, but the leaks suggest that a June 2025 release is slated for the upcoming remake. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be completely remade from the ground up, adding changes to several gameplay mechanics such as Stamina, Sneak, Archery, and the game's HUD among many others.

The original game had mechanics that were considered to be too clunky and unoptimized for today's standards. The remake will also overhaul the Blocking mechanic, making it more similar to Souls games and many recent action games. This could possibly make melee combat much more satisfying. Archery will also get an overhaul, making it perfect for first-person and third-person views.
We'll be able to play Skyrim's iconic stealth archer build, after all.
Speculations indicate that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will not be announced in the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct, presumably because of Avowed.
It would make sense that Bethesda and Microsoft will give the limelight to Avowed before announcing anything about The Elder Scrolls, or else it would overshadow the game that is set to be released on February 18, 2025.
Avid Elder Scrolls fans are excited about the rumors but are also aware of the fan-made project called Skyblivion, a Skyrim mod that aims to port Oblivion into Skyrim's engine. Some fans are still looking forward to the project, despite the rumored release of Bethesda's official version.
They mentioned that if Bethesda has a lesser-quality remake, considering how Starfield declined over the past few months, then the Skyrim mod will be something that many fans will gladly rather play.
