Embark Studios’ free-to-play FPS The Finals is already getting a huge update this week with The Finals Season 2 bringing new gadgets, game modes and more to the game. However, Embark already has plans to enhance the title’s already extensive character customisation.

The Finals developer Embark Studios is already working on new character customisation options that will be released during Season 3. While The Finals Season 3 hasn’t been revealed, it should release sometime in June.

In a discord message posted to The Finals’ subreddit, Embark confirmed that two huge character customisation features are coming: Facial Hair and Chest Hair.

“Facial hair is coming, we just need to add another slot to ‘face customisation’,” one developer said. When asked about chest hair, they said: “Hehe. It might ACTUALLY be part of S3.”

Currently, The Finals does have a huge number of customisation options including full outfits, front and back accessories, weapon skins, charms, stickers and more. Of course, there’s also a fair number of emotes and sounds you can play.

The Finals’ character customisation is also completely cross-gender, which should also be part of the game’s facial hair and chest hair additions. At the time of writing, no asset is kept restricted to one body type — clothes, hair, makeup and more can be used by anyone.

While some have complained about seeing characters in clothing that challenges genre norm, the majority of players (and us) are huge fans of the complete freedom of character customisation. After all, if you unlock a piece of clothing that can’t be used across all your characters, that’s less useful than clothing that can be.

Season 1 of The Finals already added brilliant clothing items such as wedding dresses, an alien costume, ballerina attire and cowboy threads. There’s also a dunce hat for anyone who complains about seeing a man in a dress.

The Finals is currently available for free on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
