Embark Studios’ frenetic free-to-play FPS game The Finals is getting a nerf for its overpowered Recon Senses ability.
Following the recent 1.5.5 patch for the game on PC and console, fans noticed that the often complained about ability was still extremely overpowered.
While nerfs came for the defibrillators and other medium class tools, the recon senses ability was still fully powered up. However, that is set to change in future patches for The Finals.
Following fan complaints of the lack of a tone-down, Embark Studios revealed that The Finals’ recon senses ability will be seeing a nerf in future patches of the game.
While some players are asking for a full removal of the ability, Embark Studios will simply be making changes to the way it works. At the time of writing, recon senses are an overpowered way to see where enemies are in the frantic FPS game, but with a reduction in range, the tool could become more balanced.
Embark Studios’ customer support lead Dusty Gustafsson told fans on Discord, via Dexerto, that “changes [are] coming [in] next week’s update”. Unfortunately, no other details were revealed by the developer.
The Finals’ balancing has struggled with launch due to the sheer amount of customisation. However, since its release, Recon Senses have been the one ability that many have struggled to defend due to its overpowered nature.
The game also suffers from the popularity of medium build users. As the most balanced build with some of the best support options, it’s common to see teams filled with medium build players. With the nerf of recon senses, we may actually see more varied teams.
The Finals is currently available as a free-to-play game across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
