The Game Awards 2021 has broken its own viewership record once again. For this year's ceremony, host Geoff Keighley's confirmed that they hit a total of 85 million livestreams globally across the night.
Sharing this news via Twitter, it beats the record set by The Game Awards 2020, which took in 83 million viewers. Apart from total viewership, The Game Awards 2021 also broke a new record in terms of social and voting engagement, seeing 1.6 million tweets posted during the event and became Twitter's top trending topic, which they've achieved for 8 years in a row.

The Game Awards 2021 Sets New Viewership, Social Engagement Record
Speaking in a press release, Keighley also issued this official statement:
“We are thrilled by the viewership, engagement and reaction to The Game Awards this year,” said Geoff Keighley, executive producer. “With triple-digit viewership gains across the board, plus record setting social media metrics, one thing is clear: video games and gamers continue to grow in importance and prominence on the pop culture landscape.”
