How to upgrade to The Last Of Us 2 PS5 version
To upgrade to the PS5 version of The Last Of Us 2 for a lower cost, you'll need to visit the PlayStation Store after launch on January 19, 2024.
The upgrade will reportedly cost £10 / $10, with 'local upgrade pricing' offered in other regions. Waiting until launch will lock you out of pre-order bonuses, but they're fairly inconsequential if you don't care about finding two upgrades slightly earlier.
If you're on the fence about upgrading, these are the bonuses offered:
- No Return, the all-new roguelike survival mode
- Cut levels featuring developer commentary
- Full DualSense integration (e.g haptic feedback)
- New outfits
- New weapon skins
- Guitar free play
- Graphical enhancements
- New frame and logo options in photo mode
- Speedrun mode
- A new platinum trophy to unlock
How to upgrade to The Last Of Us 2 PS5 version with disc
It's worth noting that the upgrade process is slightly different for owners of the disc version. You'll need to insert your Last Of Us 2 PS4 disc into the PS5 (which, of course, requires the PS5 that has a disc drive) before the discount is offered. Just like the physical edition, this will only be offered after January 19.
According to the game's store page, owners of PS4 disc copies will need to put the disc in the PS5 every time they want to download or play the PS5 version digitally.
That's everything you need to know about upgrading to experience The Last Of Us 2 in next-gen. Before you go, find out more about No Return's many modes or catch up on the news that the lost levels will appear in the TV series' second season.
