Is It a Standalone Game?

Yes, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a standalone game. Although it has been developed by the same people that made Borderlands (Gearbox Software)and the art style is very similar, it is not an expansion for any of those games. It's its own game. This should mean that people can immerse themselves in and enjoy the game without prior knowledge or experience with Borderlands.

There is a Borderlands DLC called "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure". However, it seems as though you will not need to play this to be able to understand and enjoy Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
