The original Tomb Raider is still an iconic piece of gaming history and fans can now play it on VR. Seeing this platforming classic in VR is surreal, so the fact that a team made it happen has plenty of fans talking. While it might not replace the classic Lara Croft experience, this is still a very cool version of the game.

In a post on X, Team Beef revealed that players can now play a VR version of this PC and PS1 classic through Sidequest. Fans who install the Sidequest VR app will get a free demo of this version, giving them a taste of how this game will be played. Considering how this game has been ported many times, turning it into a VR experience is pretty bold.

Fans who do want to revisit Tomb Raider properly should pick up the recently remastered trilogy, which offers prettier graphics, extras, and an optional control scheme. Having the first three games in one affordable package is a steal, given how much content has been added. Once players want something a bit more different, they should give this VR version a visit.

Lara Croft continues to play a major part in gaming, whether it’s through the aforementioned re-releases or some of her newer games. With the folks at Crystal Dynamics preparing a new game for Croft soon, revisiting some of these older adventures should get fans ready for the future. Trying this VR experience should make for an immersive platforming experience, even if it still looks like that crusty PS1 game in first-person.

We aren’t out of the re-release train yet, as Crystal Dynamics is preparing a remastered collection for Tomb Raider 4, 5, and 6. Many fans are curious to see if the devs can get anything good out of the controversial Angel of Darkness game on PS2, given how it originally released in an unfinished state. Hopefully, this game gets a second chance to impress fans.
