The Fracture: Tenrai event is back and ready to level up! Week 2 of 6 ends on January 11th.

You can now progress 10 tiers per week by completing event challenges. From tier 10 onward, all the less interesting bits (XP Boosts and Challenge Swaps) have been replaced by cosmetic items previously seen in the Halo Infinite store, which is a huge improvement over the first week.

The Fracture: Tenrai event has arrived, and with it 343's full lineup of event rewards. The base Yoroi Samurai Core is an event reward unlocked at Tier 5 of the event battle pass. You gain a new tier with every event challenge you complete, so while Tenrai only runs for a week initially, you should be able to get the base armour core before it disappears for another month.

Other related accessories, such as weapon skins and a sword attachment, are locked behind higher levels of the pass. It may take a while to get those if you want them.

We have some tips on how to rank up the Fracture: Tenrai battle pass faster too!

Original Story

That’s right, 343 Studios are planning to release a free-to-play Halo: Infinite multiplayer game and are already hyping up some of the gear you can get, like the Yoroi Samurai armor.

It looks pretty cool and some details for how to unlock it have already been revealed, though those details are still pretty vague.

Despite the Halo: Infinite multiplayer being free-to-play, the Yoroi Samurai armor will not cost money to unlock.

As revealed in an interview with IGN whilst discussing the Halo Infinite Battle Pass, players will need to play Fracture Events. Here's how it works, as explained by Lead Progression Designer Chris Blohm:

"At launch, we have the challenge system that fuels the battle pass and the event system. Events go live every few weeks...You get a special playlist and you get a new reward track for [each event]... That's two weeks for an event and one week for the Fracture, but the Fracture comes back every month and it saves your progress."

It's here in the games Fracture Events where they'll be able to unlock the Yoroi Samurai armor.

We’ll admit that the armor looks pretty cool, though it is weird that they’re hyping this up as an unlockable and not a bonus armor for players if they decide to pre-order.

Not a move we hate but just unusual given what the free-to-play genre has gotten us used to, though we’re sure that a number of cosmetics will cost money like most f2p games.

Is The Yoroi Samurai Armor Canon?

No. Put bluntly. Talking to IGN, Lead Progression Designer Chris Blohm explained how certain Halo Spartan armors will fit within the wider Halo canon.

In the case of the Yoroi Samurai Armor, it will be made available via the game's new Fracture Events. But most armors available within Fracture events will not be treated as canon:

"Multiplayer Spartans aren't Master Chief. Occasionally they have bright colors. Occasionally, you know in Reach, they have a flaming helmet. We want to be very careful about how we treat some of these things and that's one of the reasons we brought The Fracture in as we brought it in. What we're saying with a Fracture is very clearly, 'Hey, this isn't canon. This isn't a Spartan that's fighting the Banished."
