Upcoming Xbox One Update Expands Party Chat, Xbox 360 Integration and More

In an announcement made via Xbox Wire and the Major Nelson blog, Microsoft has announced the details of their latest Xbox One update.

The update, which is scheduled to launch to Xbox One Preview Program members today, is set to “transform the Xbox experience” through the addition of several new features in response to feedback received from the community.

To kick things off, headlining the new and improved ‘Xbox One Experience’, users will now be able to host an expanded party chat of 16 people, across both the Xbox One and the Windows 10 app. In addition to this, party chat will also be available in Twitch broadcasts, with members able to accept or decline an invitation to have their chat audio streamed to viewers.

The second main feature of the new Xbox One update is the added ability to purchase Xbox 360 backwards compatible games on the Xbox One. Ranked as one of the top community requests, users will now be able to browse the Xbox Store for Xbox 360 games, as they would for Xbox One titles.

There are also other minor improvements to the system, such as; the ability to change the audio output of your Party Chat to headset and speakers simultaneously, the ability to Customizable Game DVR recording length, the ability to track Achievement progress in the Xbox One guide, the addition of video playback directly in the Xbox One Activity Feed, the option to compare your avatars and an alteration to the reputation rating interface.
