How To Craft Abyssal Harpoon

An Abyssal Harpoon is a tool in Valheim that can be used for a number of things, mostly it's just a way to grab stuff. It's not useful for much else as it does an extremely minor amount of damage to the target. To craft one you'll need a level 2 Workbench and the items listed below:

  • x8 Fine Wood
  • x30 Chitin
  • x3 Leather scraps

You'll need to mine Chitin to unlock the recipe for the Abyssal Harpoon, Chitin can be found on Leviathans in the sea, mining Abyssal barnacles will produce it.

How To Use Abyssal Harpoon

Many players use the harpoon to drag tamed boars into other pens, others use it for a laugh by catapulting friends and the most common use involves a creature lucking in the deep... One of the most useful scenarios to use the harpoon is when you're going head to head with a Sea Serpent, if you defeat one in a deep body of water, you'll likely lose your rewards as they sink to the bottom of the sea, never to be seen again.

The aim is to drag the serpent as close to being on land as you can, this way it ends up stranded. Bring down the beast and you won't be heartbroken, watching your spoils float into the darkness of the ocean, instead you'll get Serpent Meat, scales and trophies! Time to cook up a tasty Serpent Stew with a Serpent Scale Shield in hand.

That's everything you need to learn about the Abyssal Harpoon, next you may want to get yourself a Draugr Fang Bow, it's arguable the best bow in Valheim. It's also worth gearing up, do so with our armour guide!
