A new season is on its way to Warzone, and players can expect plenty of changes to the infamous Gulag. In this guide, we'll explain how to win the Urzikstan Gulag, and share everything we know about it.
This season is shaping up to be an exciting one as fans prepare to launch into the all-new Urzikstan just in time for CODMAS. Fans of Modern Warfare 3 are also being treated to multiplayer maps and returning game modes like Gunfight and Vortex.
If you're excited for the season ahead, get the latest intel with our guide to the new perk changes. We've also got loadout guides for the AMR9 and BAS-B, with plenty more on the way.
How to win the Urzikstan Gulag
After their first death in a match, players visit the Urzikstan Gulag for a one-on-one fight. Losing triggers a more permanent death, while victors get to re-join the realm of the living. Interestingly, Season 1 is bringing a new way to win.
The first victory condition involves killing your opponent before they kill you in the ultimate battle of skill. The Urzikstan Gulag offers a second win condition, however, and it's replacing the old overtime flag mechanic.
Known as the 'Ascender Overtime Finisher', Gulag matches will now be interrupted by an exfiltration rope dropping into the centre of the map. Players can grab the rope and be lifted out, but can still shoot (or be shot) while clinging to the rope.
What are Gulag public events?
To keep the Gulag from getting stale, several public events are planned. We've heard of three so far, each aiming to put a spin on gameplay in their own ways.
Go Again gives another life to players that lose their first Gulag fight, offering one more escape attempt. Cash Grab adds a huge stack of cash to the middle of the map, and promises more money around the arena. Locked and Loaded Weapons is perhaps the most exciting, promising an assault rifle and submachine gun loadout with full armour to the winner.
Warzone night-vision Gulag
Independent of public events, the Gulag reportedly has a chance of going totally dark. Players will be equipped with a pair of night-vision goggles, giving the Gulag an element of 'hide-and-seek', if it was played against a gun-wielding Batman.
