Pro Warzone players have been exposed for using an exploit that abuses the game’s skill-based matchmaking system to fight lower-ranked players.
Warzone, Modern Warfare 3 and countless other live-service FPS games use skill-based matchmaking to create level playing fields for gamers. While the system has been heavily criticized, most casual players don’t seem to mind it.
As explained by ModernWarzone, multiple online content creators have been found abusing Warzone SBMM to create videos and streams where they mow down waves of lower-skilled players.
The content creators have been found using a method called “2 Boxing” to enter low-ranked matches. This method involves creating a low-skill account with a horrible kill-death ratio and using it to bring a higher level player into easier games.
“Once the lobby is about to begin the low level accounts leave and the creator/creators are free to farm the lobby to their heart's content,” the account said.
2 Boxing has been a very popular trick for content creators for many years now with its name coming from having “two boxes”, aka two Xboxes. However, with the rise of livestreaming and the eruption of battle royale content, 2 Boxing has become even more prominent as content creators aim to create viral clips.
With Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 Reloaded on the way, another spike in 2 Boxing is expected to occur as content creators play through the new update.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no plans for Activision to properly tackle this Warzone SBMM exploit in the near future. While Ricochet anti-cheat has been used to reduce hackers and most major gameplay exploits, 2 Boxing is still a prominent part of the game.
Alongside new content for Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty 2024 is also in development. Dubbed Black Ops Gulf War, the new title’s perks list, weapons list and grenades list has already leaked, and it’s looking stacked.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War releases later this year.
