Marvel Studios likes to keep its projects under wraps, but Marvel Rivals seems to receive new leaks every other week.
It’s just been revealed that characters like Deadpool, Captain Marvel, and MODOK are expected to come to the game soon, but one more incoming obscure character that’s been rumored is Hit-Monkey, who was introduced in Marvel Comics way back in 2010. Some of Hit-Monkey’s abilities may have been leaked, giving players an idea of what kind of hero he will be in MR.
Hit-Monkey’s Abilities Leaked?
Hit-Monkey is just a regular monkey with assassin training, and his leaked move set has come out online. Take note that these are only translated from the original Chinese, and they have no description of what he can do. Here’s the post anyway via @MRivalsUpdates:
The move list includes:
- Kitten Howling
- Endless Rage
- Fear Hunt
- Dual Gun Shooting
Granted that Hit-Monkey doesn’t use any special gadgets or magic, it does seem like his kit is designed around two things—guns and the fact that he’s a well-trained assassin with the reflexes of a monkey.
As far as speculation goes, “Howling” could be a buff for fellow team-mates that may increase their damage temporarily; “Endless Rage” could be a passive meter that builds up, but it could also be a temporary damage buff; “Fear Hunt” sounds like an ability that makes enemies with low health visible (like Sombra from Overwatch); and “Dual Gun Shooting” could be the ultimate and Hit-Monkey could simply take out his guns and deal twice the damage that he normally does.
When Does Hit-Monkey Arrive
Word is going around that Hit-Monkey could release within the year, but it’s unclear just how soon he will come to the game. With 13 characters already leaked, Forbes speculates that NetEase plans to release 2-3 characters with every season.
Other characters that have been leaked alongside Hit-Monkey include Angela, Deadpool, Captain Marvel, Emma Frost, Phoenix/Jean Grey, Valkyrie, MODOK, Blade, Ultron, and the whole Fantastic Four roster.
With character models for Ultron, Mr. Fantastic, and Human Torch leaking online, some think they could be arriving the soonest in Marvel Rivals. However, with the Fantastic Four movie expected to come out in July, it’s possible that Marvel wants them to release around the same time as the movie so that the game and the film can feed on each other’s hype.
As for Hit-Monkey, it’s possible that he could drop alongside Deadpool since the two have teamed up in the comics. If NetEase sticks to three characters released, maybe HM and Wade can release alongside MODOK since he’s also kind of a joke character nowadays.
Until NetEase is ready to reveal more, fans can only cling to these leaks. Maybe a ‘year-ahead’ announcement is on the horizon for the New Year.
