Marvel Rivals is currently experimenting with Season 0, but the start of Season 1 begins later this month.
Several leaks have been going around for Fantastic Four members Johnny Storm and Reed Richards, and while they haven’t been officially announced, a new leaked banner also gives a look at Sue Storm and Ben Grimm. we also have some possible new information on when Marvel’s First Family will drop in the game.
Fantastic Four in Season One?
According to @RivalsLeaks, it’s very likely that the Fantastic Four will come to Marvel Rivals as early as Season 1. Here’s the banner including the whole team, the Fantasticar, the Baxter Building, and Kirby:
Until NetEase releases something official, fans will just have to take this with a grain of salt, but it does seem very likely that the heroes could be released early. Leaks for Mr. Fantastic and the Human Torch do seem to reveal that the characters are already very deep into development, and it’s only a matter of time before more info on the Invisible Woman and the Thing drops.
Marvel’s First Family
Ability leaks have been going around for Reed Richards and Johnny Storm for a while, and devs have said that they will both be Duelists; and while nothing has been revealed for Sue and Ben, it’s pretty obvious that the Thing will be a Vanguard.
As for the Invisible Woman, she can be a Duelist as well, but some speculate that she’ll be added to the game as a Strategist. This way, when the Four are introduced, they would already be a well-balanced team by themselves—two more members would probably feel like a fun crossover from the comics.
While some think it would make sense to release the Fantastic Four around the summer when the new movie comes out, Marvel should also want to hype up the team all year. Fans will be ready to sink their teeth into the film when the trailer drops in a few months.
Doomsday
With Doctor Doom also at the center of Season 0, it would make sense to bring in his archnemesis from the comics, Reed Richards, to the game. Though it’s unclear if it’s the Four’s arrival that will defeat Doom in Season 0, it does offer an opportunity for MR to establish the rivalry between this version of the characters, and more casual Marvel fans will be ready to see them in live-action when First Steps releases in theatres come July.
In the meantime, it looks like Doom is still unopposed in Marvel Rivals’ narrative. With the arrival of the Fantastic Four, some fans expect a big story arc to be added to the game.
No official release date has been set for the Fantastic Four, but Season 1 of Marvel Rivals will begin later this January 10. Marvel Rivals is now playable on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
