Who Created Fortnite?

Calling Fortnite a success is an understatement, as the game has become something of a pop culture phenomenon, complete with a ton of character skins that fans adore, some of which are Marvel, DC, or Star Wars-related.

The game also has a bit more variety than fans give it credit for, not just giving fans a battle royale to play through, but a fun story mode in Save the World, and crazy things like Deathrun or Hide and Seek codes offering players a challenge.

Who Created Fortnite?

Despite all of this, fans are curious about who created Fortnite and if they knew the game would be the most popular video game in the world (sorry Mario).

We all know that Epic Games made the game and published it but in terms of someone having the sole idea to create this game, that seems to go to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, who realized that the free-to-play model was the future.

He wasn’t wrong.

When Fortnite was first announced all those years ago, many Epic Games fans were a bit disappointed since it was such a far cry from Gears of War, the Xbox-only series that the developers made their name from.

Still, after realizing that the free-to-play model was a hit, Epic Games decided to sideline Save the World (though it’s still there) and mostly focus on the battle royale aspect.

Next thing you know, Fortnite is one of the most downloaded free-to-play games ever made and other gamers are wondering why they even bothered paying for PUBG.

Then again, there are gamers who played Battleborn and...oof, what a sad story that game has.

Anyway, we’d say “here’s hoping Tim Sweeney is happy with the game’s success” but we know he is.

Fortnite is available now on pretty much every gaming system you can imagine, like PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices.
