WWII Shooter Smashes Kickstarter Goal

British game developer, Bulkhead Interactive, has smashed their Kickstarter campaign for Battalion 1944, a WWII multiplayer first-person shooter.

Inspired by the original Call of Duty games and the Medal of Honour franchise, Bulkhead Interactive has revived the classic WWII genre within Unreal Engine 4, much to the excitement of the community.

The initial Kickstarter goal of £100,000 was raised within an impressive three days, proving there is a desire for the shooter franchise to leave its current futuristic settings and return to the WWII era. Since then, Battalion 1944 has set several stretch goals, as the Kickstarter soars past its original target.

The campaign states, “Battalion 1944 is an infantry based first person shooter with an emphasis on raw skill. No grinding, no 'exosuits', just you and your skill as a player.” The game currently boasts real world settings for its multiplayer maps and will offer season to season “Battle Ranking” for those looking to get competitive.

With more than 9,500 backers and a total of over £300,000 raised, The Battalion 1944 Kickstarter has entered its final hours, as we approach the last day of its campaign. At the time of writing, Bulkhead Interactive have hit four of their ten stretch goals, with the next target, ‘British Forces’ approximately £20,000 away, while their most ambitious goal, a single player campaign, needs an additional £900,000.

Battalion 1944 is being developed for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and hopes to challenge the modern shooters currently dominating the market. You can reserve your downloadable copy and other bonuses by simply backing the Kickstarter, but hurry because time is almost up!
