Microsoft Promises Fix For Xbox Series S/X Controller Disconnects

Fresh from surveying players about whether they'd like Dualsense features added to the Xbox Series S/X controller, Microsoft is promising a fix for connection issues with the pads.

Recent support forum posts have suggested that controllers are disconnecting for no reason in the middle of gameplay, with some users noting it happening more in certain titles such as Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.

Microsoft Promises Fix For Xbox Series S/X Controller Disconnects

Some users noted that the controller eventually reconnects, while others have had to hard reset their console entirely. 

In a new statement to The Verge, the company has assured customers it'll be issuing a fix in the coming weeks but didn't specify a timescale.

“At Microsoft, we put all of our products through rigorous quality assurance testing and are committed to providing customers with an unparalleled gaming experience," it reads.

"We are aware some players may be experiencing disconnects with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers and our teams are actively working on a solution to be included in a future update. For the best experience, we encourage customers to update to the latest controller firmware by following the steps posted here or visiting https://support.xbox.com for assistance.”

It's been a strange week or two for Xbox controllers.

Aside from the aforementioned survey, Microsoft is the subject of a lawsuit due to the presence of stick drift in various models of Xbox controller.
