XDefiant has already made waves in the multiplayer shooter community, so seeing this Ubisoft title add a classic game mode to the mix should be fun. The fact that this mode isn’t already in Ubisoft’s shooter is a bit confusing, but there’s always time for it to grow.

VideoGamer spotted some fans datamining the game, with one of them revealing that the beloved Capture the Flag mode is coming soon. While no release window for the mode was revealed, there’s a very good chance that it will be a part of Season 1 soon.

Capture the Flag is a pretty standard mode for most multiplayer shooters, with some games giving them fancier names but essentially having the same rules. It will be interesting to see if XDefiant does anything different with the mode, though we wouldn’t change something that isn’t broken.

For those unfamiliar with the mode, Capture the Flag has two teams trying to capture each other’s flags and bring them to their base. Obviously, this is easier than it sounds, since teams are always trying to shoot each other down to get these flags. We can expect the same type of chaos in XDefiant, assuming the mode really is coming to this shooter.

Ubisoft’s shooter is already off to a good start, breaking records immediately as fans are having a good time with this game. Free-to-play shooters are pretty common these days, so the fact that fans have managed to gravitate towards this one is a huge accomplishment. As long as fans support the game, Ubisoft will continue to add new modes, weapons, and so much more.

The company has shown great interest in growing XDefiant, even canceling The Division Heartland so they can focus on this shooter more. With the company already managing this shooter and two other Rainbow Six titles, this might be the appropriate amount of multiplayer shooters to have.

XDefiant is readily available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
