Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1: Operator Leaks, Release Date, Map Reworks, and More

This article contains information about the 'release-date' of either a movie, game or product. Unless stated explicitly, release dates are speculative & subject to change. See something wrong? Contact us here

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 is the next major update coming to the game, and we shouldn't have too long to wait before we discover what Ubisoft has in store. 2022 marks the game's seventh year of content, but it also marks the release of Rainbow Six Extraction, which itself is a spin-off of the Siege universe. Whilst a new cooperative multiplayer game is something to celebrate, we imagine most core Siege fans are more intrigued by what Ubisoft Montreal has planned for their seventh year of content for the online tactical shooter. Here's everything we know so far about Rainbow Six Siege Year 7, Season 1.

Latest News

11 February 2022 -

Well-known leaker @benjaminstrike has announced a few new details on Twitter.

Namely, it's suggested that Attacker Repick and Deathmatch will be coming to live servers with Y7S1. In addition, it was suggested that Year 7 will likely also have "at least 2 completely new maps."

We should start to see more info in the coming weeks as we approach the full reveal.

4 February 2022 -

The Six Invitational is back! Don’t miss Rainbow Six Siege’s most awaited Esports competition of the year when it begins on February 8th. Plus, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for teasers for the new operator and the start of Year 7 Season 1.

25 January 2022 -

A little over ten days since the game's most notorious leaker last posted anything online, but this most recent leak is quite a doozy. As per the ever-reliable @benjaminstrike, Rainbow Six Siege Year 7 Season 1 is called Demon Veil. But what could it mean?!

14 January 2022 -

Known leaker @benjaminstrike has suggested we could see a rework for Goyo in Y7S1. Obviously, we need to take this with a pinch of salt, but benjaminstrike does have a near-flawless record when it comes to Siege leaks in the past so we think it's probably quite likely.

Ubisoft had originally promised to rework Goyo in Year 6, but it was pushed back repeatedly. The most recent communication from the team came in a blog post released in November when the team told fans:

“We hate to make you wait a little bit longer, but Goyo’s rework still needs some more time.

“Originally announced during the Year 6 reveal, our team had — and still has — plans for Goyo, but as the year has progressed, other Operators have shifted and changed.

“We discovered that the change we have in mind requires us to completely redo his animations, [and] it has taken more time than originally anticipated.”

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 Release Date

At the time of writing Ubisoft Montreal has not confirmed a release date for Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 on the test server, or a start date for the new season on live servers; however, we suspect we'll find out more during the game's annual Six Invitational event.

For those who don't know, the Six Invitational is the biggest Rainbow Six Siege event of the year, an annual esports tournament hosted by Ubisoft.

The Group Stage will take place from February 8th to 12th, and the Playoffs from February 14th to 20th, with the Grand Final happening on February 20th.

At some stage during the event, we imagine Ubisoft will reveal a broad plan for Year 7, as well as more specific details on Y7S1.

Given that Y7S1 will require some level of testing, we suspect we'll see the new season arrive on live servers at some stage in early March 2022.

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 Content

As noted above, Year 7 has not yet been revealed, but we suspect it won't be wildly different from Year 6. With this in mind, we can expect to see four different Operations released throughout the year, consisting of one new operator, a map rework and broad game balance changes and bug fixes.

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 Operator Leaks

Despite the new operator still being some months away from release, there have already been several leaks from established Rainbow Six Siege dataminers giving us some slithers of info.

Initially back in November reputable leaker benjaminstrike claimed that the new operator was called "Azami". In addition, another leaked named 'Script' (via Dexerto) claimed the operator was codenamed Flubber. We suspect this was just a placeholder name, but more intriguingly was the reveal that the new operator would have a gadget called 'Kiba Barrier'.

That leads us to the most recent leak from earlier this week when several images purporting to show the new operator were posted to Reddit.

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 Battle Pass

The only other details worth sharing so far are based on another leak from Siege dataminer @benjaminstrike. Another tweet from back in December claimed that players can once more expect to see a free and premium reward track for each season in Year 7.
