Breakdown
- Kingdom Hearts 4 is getting music from Yoko Shimomura
- The industry legend confirmed she's working on the game's music
- Square Enix is still keeping quiet about the future of Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts 4 news has been pretty dry, with Square Enix not giving fans anything since the game’s reveal trailer many years ago. However, we now know that the legendary Yoko Shimomura will once again be working on this franchise’s music, as she confirmed that she is working on the upcoming installment.
Speaking with IGN, Shimomura confirmed she’s working on several songs for the latest crossover between Disney and Square Enix. The legendary composer didn’t say anything beyond that, but it’s good to know that this franchise’s MVP is still hard at work.
We can only imagine what the newest rendition of “Dearly Beloved” will sound like when Kingdom Hearts 4 eventually comes out. It also wouldn’t surprise us if she made more of those wonderful Disney remixes, based on whatever world Sora and co. end up visiting. Hercules might be one of the confirmed worlds, so get ready to hear that iconic “Olympus Coliseum” track again.
Any hardcore video game fan will tell you that Yoko Shimomura is more than Kingdom Hearts and they are absolutely correct. Shimomura has also worked on Street Fighter 2, Live A Live, Super Mario RPG, and so much more. The fact that she’s still passionate about making video game music is good news for gamers, who shouldn’t take her work for granted.
Now that we know Shimomura is back for Kingdom Hearts 4, we hope Square Enix eventually tells us new details about the game. Tetsuya Nomura is probably busy working on the third Final Fantasy VII Remake entry, but there’s always hope for more information soon.
Fans can at least get ready for the fourth entry whenever it comes out, as every Kingdom Hearts game is readily available for most game systems. Various collections compile the whole series on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Epic Games. Switch fans only have Cloud Versions to play and none of the games are available on Steam, disappointing many.
Kingdom Hearts 4 still has no release date but it will have amazing music.
