How to shield surf in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Shield surfing is a great way to travel in Tears of the Kingdom, not only because it’s fast but also a lot of fun. This is all the more important if you don’t have a horse at your disposal!
There are also quite a few advantages to shield surfing over normal running too, other than simply how fast you can go. For example, you can still shoot at enemies with your bow while you’re on the back of a shield, which can make for a great entrance into an enemy camp! You can also do a spinning attack once you’re in melee range with it.
In order to shield surf in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you need to make sure you have an appropriate shield equipped first. This is important, as not all shields will be suitable for this! If you’ve previously fused an item with it, or there’s an object on it that gets in the way, then you risk falling off it.
Once you’ve made sure the shield is good to go, you simply jump and press ZL + A while you throw yourself down that hill! Just make sure that you ride safe and don’t run into anything at those high speeds.
The only thing you need to look out for is the durability of the shield. Understandably, using it as a surfboard across potentially rough terrain is a nightmare for the structural integrity of the shield. If you’re caught riding it when it breaks, then you could potentially be in for a really bad time!
