The Machete is now available in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone with the introduction of Season 2.
This brand new melee tool can be yours, for free, if you complete a specific challenge!
But what does that challenge require?
Here's how to unlock the Machete in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
How To Unlock The Machete
To unlock the Machete In Black Ops Cold War And Warzone you will need to earn the Back Stabber medal in 15 different matches (melee kill from behind).
It seems simple enough although can be a real grind if you're not sure what to do.
So what's the best class to run when attempting to do this challenge?
Black Ops Cold War
Realistically, you can run any class you want as you're only looking to get 1 melee kill. Until an ample opportunity arises, you can run and gun as much as you want.
If you're looking to do it fast, I recommend a class like this:
NOTE: The stats for this don't seem to be tracking and also seem to reset - it could be that leaving the game early will not track stats properly so be sure to see out the game!
Equip an SMG so you'll run faster to cover any distances between you and your enemy; if you can stick on any attachments that will speed up the process, do so!
Paranoia is interchangeable with Engineer depending on the lobby. If you find a lot of campers, sticking Engineer on can be a good counter to land mines and claymores.
Forward Intel is going to give you a better idea of the map's spawn locations and where you need to flank.
Tracker can be a great tool to give you an idea of enemy foot traffic and follow up with a sneak attack.
Gear Head is useful for generating more Field Mics, which gives you ample opportunity to get behind an enemy.
Finally, Ghost will keep you hidden from Spy Planes and Ninja will keep you quiet.
I recommend playing a mode like Team Deathmatch to get this done as you'll have more opportunities to sneak under the radar and remain hidden.
However, objective modes also provide nice opportunities as you often get a few unaware campers or objective heroes looking at the objective rather than you.
So staying hidden in corners near the objective is a great way to get behind them.
The Apocalypse 24/7 playlist seems to be a good way to get this done fast.
Warzone
Warzone is a bit trickier in many respects as you're not exactly going to be quiet (due to the way loadouts work) and you're going to need to run a custom class.
My recommendations is to play Plunder, where you'll be equipped with a melee weapon anyway and try to drop with enemies for a potentially easy stab.
As there's a free-to-play weekend in Black Ops Cold War for the launch of Season 2, you're better off getting it done here.
