The RPD light machine gun (LMG) isn’t one of the best weapons in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer but in Zombies, it’s an entirely different beast.
Armed with impressive levels of mobility and a huge magazine as standard, the RPD is one of the better weapons to be using when it comes to taking on what lies within the Dark Aether.
With Season 2 underway, the LMG can be transformed into the ultimate Zombie slaying machine!

RPD Cold War Zombies
Despite having the lowest in-game stats out of all the LMGs on offer, the RPD is still a viable option to use in round-based Zombies and Outbreak.
The moderate rate of fire allows you to maintain control of the RPD when firing continuously but its slow reload speeds means it can be easy to be ambushed by a swarm of undead opposition.
With the right set of attachments equipped, the overall performance of the RPD can be improved significantly, making it one of the stronger weapons to be using.
RPD Cold War Zombies Attachments
After spending a bit of time testing out various combinations, here are the best to equip:
- Muzzle Brake 7.62 (Muzzle)
- 20.3” Task Force (Barrel)
- Infiltrator Grip (Underbarrel)
- VDV 125 RND Fast Mag (Magazine)
- KGB Skeletal Stock (Stock)
This particular set of attachments provides increases in numerous areas including damage range and reload speed, enabling you to dominate any form of undead targets from a distance.
The choice of infiltrator grip and skeletal stock is an excellent combination to improve mobility even further, allowing you to duck and dive out the way of any Zombies that may get a bit too close.

Is The RPD Good In Cold War Zombies?
I can safely say that the RPD in Cold War Zombies is a solid weapon to choose before the start of a match.
Its mobility sets it apart from the other LMGs in the category while a massive magazine makes it very easy to eliminate any targets for the first ten rounds or first Outbreak level.
After the first ten rounds, a Pack-A-Punch upgrade is essential for it to remain viable against stronger opposition
