Destiny 2 Season of the Worthy is in full swing, and you may have noticed that the Almighty (the huge ship hurtling towards The Tower) is now visible from the game's social space.
With the Almighty widely expected to collide with the Last City, at least partially, it looks as though the events of Season 11 could deal with the fallout of that impact.

According to a new blog post, Bungie confirmed that we'll hear about Season 11 “at the same time that we talk about the next chapter in the story that has been unfolding all year long.”
Considering Season 11 kicks off on June 9, it's likely that the next big reveal for an expansion could be coming even sooner than that – likely in the spot on the calendar where E3 would have sat.
That matches up with the early June reveals of both Forsaken and Shadowkeep, but players are still in the dark for the most part. Despite rumours of areas being destroyed, we're still waiting to hear more about the vague threat of "The Darkness" that we're still yet to encounter after six years.
Update: 1/6/20
Not long after this article was posted, the official Destiny account tweeted an ominous new audio clip with a pyramid-shaped visualiser - suggesting The Darkness (and their pyramid ships) are going to be making an appearance soon.

It's got the game's community abuzz, with players suggesting the 91 pillars shown in the teaser are suggesting that Season 11 will be 91 days long - leading us to a new content drop on September 8. As it happens, that is a Tuesday, so it's not out of the realms of possibility.
