Beyond Light introduces ‘Monument to Lost Lights’ kiosk

The arrival of Destiny 2 year four — the Beyond Light expansion, Europa, new seasons — is coming at the cost of certain destinations and quests.

Io, the Leviathan, Mars, Mercury, and Titan are among the locations getting put into the new Destiny Content Vault, which means we won’t have access to them for the foreseeable future.

Therefore, a lot of exotic weapons and pinnacle gear won’t be attainable through their original quest lines when Beyond Light gets here. But Bungie’s figured out a simple solution.

Monument to Lost Lights exotic archive

“The Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive will be found by the Vault. Here, players may acquire various Exotics and Legendary Pinnacle/Pursuit weapons that were once available through now-retired quests. As many of these Exotics were tied to lengthy quests or difficult objectives, we wanted to make sure their prices reflected those previous efforts,” Bungie writes in a new blog post.

“Players will need an amount of Glimmer, destination materials, masterworking materials, and an Exotic Cipher or Ascendant Shard in order to purchase the Exotic or Legendary which they desire. We’re also introducing a currency, Spoils of Conquest, which can only be acquired when completing raids. This currency will be required for Exotics previously tied to Vaulted raids.”

Neither exotic ciphers nor ascendant shards are particularly easy to get ahold of right now, so this seems like a pretty elegant replacement for the lengthy quests you used to have to grind through to earn certain coveted weapons.

Hopefully, it’ll help players focus on year-four content while still being able to grab that inevitable must-have exotic that high-level players will want their teammates to have for the endgame.

Beyond Light launches November 10 alongside the Xbox Series X.
