This guide will tell you how backwards compatibility works on the PS5.
You’ll be playing your favourite classics in no time at all!
What games are backwards compatible
Playstation 5
Well, we have some good news and some bad news!
Unfortunately, PS3, PS2 and PS1 discs will not work on the PS5, much like how they ddn’t with teh PS4.
However, almost every PS4 disc will work on PS5!
What is more, the top 100 most-played PS4 games can all take advantage of the next-gen’s console thanks to “boost mode”.
This boosted performance mode will automatically activate for these titles so don’t worry.
Though, there are a few PS4 games that aren’t playable of the PS5.
We’ll list them below as it would be much more difficult to name every game that can be played.
The incompatible games are:
- DWVR
- Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
- TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
- Just Deal With It!
- Shadow Complex Remastered
- Robinson: The Journey
- We Sing
- Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
- Shadwen
- Joe's Diner
- P.T.
P.T. is a shame but expected given that it’s unfortunately never going to be more than a demo and was removed from the PS Store a while ago.
The others will definitely be a shame for fans of those games, so make sure to hang onto your PS4 in case you ever want to grab TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2!
