In Fallout, cryptids are the monsters of legend and myth in Appalachia.
These include aliens, the Flatwoods monster, the Grafton monster, mega sloth, the Mothman, Sheepsquatch, Snallygaster, and the Wendigo.
Queen of the Hunt quest
If you’re looking to track down and kill some cryptids in Fallout 76, one of the best ways to do that is still to run the “Queen of the Hunt” daily quest.
“To begin this quest, access Shelby’s Terminal located at the Hunter’s Shack in the Mire region,” Bethesda writes on its support site.
“Investigate three sites located around the Mire. These locations are random. Investigate these sites until you locate the cryptid. Kill the cryptid and extract a tissue sample from it. Head back to the Hunter’s Shack and deposit the tissue sample.”
You can generally find a Grafton monster north of Charleston Trainyard. A Snallygaster can be found at the Toxic Dried Lakebed. There’s a location called Wendigo Cave in the east-central region of the map; you can guess who you’ll run into there.
More Snallygasters can be found in the Charleston canal.
The Mothman can be found either as a random encounter (in a variety of forms, each with different color eyes) or as a reward for completing the “Path of Enlightenment” event at Landview Lighthouse.

If it’s been a while since you’ve logged into Fallout 76, you can probably grab a handful of free items from the Atomic Shop right now — the “Platinum” icon, the “So sorry” emote, a Pioneer Scouts poster, a Vault-Tec duffel bag. It’s worth checking the in-game store periodically for similar freebies.
Fallout season two ends on or around Tuesday, November 24.
