Let's get prepped for Season 3 - here's everything you need to know about the new event, and here are all the changes to weapons, including new ones coming this season.
What Animals Can You Ride In Fortnite?
Certain animals have been around in Fortnite for a while now, such as the chicken. But recently the wildlife population has exploded with wolves and boars being brought into the mix. These two can now serve as vehicles in Chapter 3, Season 3, much to the appreciation of players.

Boars were originally added back in Chapter 2, but now serve more of a purpose than just a meat and mushroom farming tool. They remain passive until attacked, and you can also tame them. A tame boar will assist in attacking enemies and can also dig up items for you. Ferocious though they are, we think they’re a-boar-able.
Wolves are your other option for a mountable animal. You can also tame them to help in fights, and they will drop meat if defeated. They’re a little trickier to get a hold of than boars as they spawn in packs, so beware!
How Do I Ride Animals In Fortnite?
Riding the boars and wolves is actually quite simple. There are also a couple of ways to go about taming the animals in order for you to get them as a companion and mount.
You can tame and ride wolves in two different ways, one a bit more dangerous than the other. The easy way is to drop meat in front of the wolf. This will give you a moment of neutrality - noted by question marks around the wolf - where you can sneak up and ride them. The other way is to jump onto the back of a wolf while unnoticed. If you’re spotted first, the wolf will attack you. Once you’re on the wolf’s back, it’ll become tame. Taming a boar is the same as the wolf - jump onto its back, and hearts will appear around it when it has become tame. The animals will then follow you around.
Your mounts will have stamina bars and can tire easily, especially when sprinting, and can be fed meat to replenish their energy and rest times. While the animals rest, you can’t interact with them. Keep an eye on their health while you roam around. You can use your weapons and even build while riding them.
By the way, the weekly quest at the moment asks players to jump onto two different animals. This is easier if you choose boars, but wolves can give you a better challenge. You’ll get 15,000 XP for completing this one.
