Is Hogwarts Legacy coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

Hogwarts Legacy was at long last announced during the Sony PlayStation PS5 Showcase and made quite an impression.

This new open-world RPG is developed by Avalanche Software, of Disney Infinity fame. And no, not Avalanche Studio of Just Cause and Mad Max. Believe us, we've triple checked just to make sure we're not wrong on that one.

Harry Potter fans can look forward to playing this brand new chapter that looks to build on the exciting wizarding world first introduced by JK Rowling over 20 years ago.

Based on what we know so far, it's set in the 1800s at the iconic Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with players seemingly creating their own character from the get-go.

From there on out, it looks like an epic adventure involving potions, quidditch, the deadly dark arts and your usual plethora of fantastical creatures.

We could explain more, but you'd probably want another look at the trailer instead, which you can do just below.

The question is, what platforms is the game actually coming to, and will it include current-gen consoles?

Is Hogwarts Legacy coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

It wasn't immediately apparent from the initial reveal trailer shown during the PlayStation 5 showcase which platforms the game would be coming to,

Given the number of PS5 games on show - Spider-Man: Miles Morales, God of War 2 - and the quality of what we saw on show from the game, it's understandable that most fans would think Hogwarts Legacy is a straight-up next-gen game.

Thankfully though, Warner Bros. cleared up any confusion after the show had finished and it's good news.

It's been confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy will release on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / Series S at some stage in 2021.

And before you ask. No. Warner Bros hasn't said anything about a possible Nintendo Switch version.

But unless Ninty is planning a suped-up Nintendo Switch Pro, we think the chances of seeing Hogwarts Legacy on Switch are about as likely as seeing Severus Snape smiling.
