The Gears 5 PC specs have been released off the back of the Gamescom 2019 announcement during Inside Xbox's livestream; they also discussed what you will need to play online via Steam. The Gears 5 release date is set for the 10th September but can be played 4 days earlier with the Ultimate Edition.

What Do You Need To Play On Steam?
To play Gears 5 on Steam you will need an Xbox Live account, whhich can be easily set up on the Xbox website, but you do not need to Gold to play online.
The Steam version supports cross-play with the Windows store version, as well as Xbox One. It is important to remember that by buying the game on one platform does not mean it is available on another platform.
