The Modern Warfare 2 cycle is well underway and players are dropping into Infinity Ward's latest single-player blockbuster. Following the events of Strike, the opening mission, Ghost regroups with Soap as the MARSOC marines attempt to capture Hassan Zyani.
The sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare sees the return of Task Force 141 as they try and halt the Al Qatala's attempt to cause chaos across the world. Compared to Strike, the Modern Warfare 2 Kill or Capture walkthrough contains a lot more action.

Modern Warfare 2 kill or capture walkthrough
Before we start our mission walkthrough, it's important to note that this guide does contain spoilers so if you don't want to know what happens, we recommend checking out our guide showcasing the best Modern Warfare 2 assault rifle to use in multiplayer once it launches.
This time around, you play as Soap for the second part of Strike. Follow your squad through the darkness.
- Tip: Don't forget to equip night-vision goggles for a better look at the surrounding area.
After spending some time walking through the fields, a friendly helicopter is hit by an enemy rocket. The chopper plummets to the ground. The nearby house is opening fire onto the wreckage. Make your way into the house and clear the building of any resistance.
With the building clear, make your way to the second building directly opposite. Enter through the broken window frame.
- Tip: Watch out for the soldier that pops up through a hatch in the floor. On veteran, it's very easy to get caught out.
Once the first opponent is dealt with, take off the goggles and work through the building. At the top of the stairs, a squadmate will take a few bullets to the chest so through a flashbang through the door to blind any threats in the room. Clear the rest of the house and make your way to the helicopter wreck.
Shortly after entering the wreckage, a huge number of Al Qatala soldiers emerge from the tree line. Use the EBR 14 to pick them off with ease using the helicopter windows as the perfect vantage point.
Following a brief moment of silence, four armoured trucks roll into view. On Ghost's cue, open fire and prevent them from entering the wreck. Air support arrives overhead and decimates the trucks and any remaining soldiers. Switch to night vision and regroup with the rest of the squad.
In the distance, a building slowly moves into view. A laser locks onto your location before a sniper shot hits another friendly. Hit the deck to avoid detection. While laying on the ground, take aim with the EBR to stop the damage.
With most of the building destroyed, Ghost gives the all-clear to search the remains. There are still soldiers inside so keep your wits about you while working through the rooms. Enter a room with a desk in the centre and attempt to open the locked door. An enemy will throw a grenade so sprint out of the room before a nasty ending.

Make your way to the second floor, eliminating any remaining targets. In the room before the balcony, interact with the papers lying on the desk. Hassan's jacket is also on the chair suggesting he was there earlier in the night. Regroup outside and prepare to enter the nearby warehouse.
- Tip: The soldiers in the warehouse come with armour. Use any grenades you have left to deal some extra damage.
Once the warehouse is clear, interact with the blue shipping container. The cutscene reveals a mobile missile launcher and to the surprise of Soap and Ghost, it belongs to the Americans...
Mission complete!
Modern Warfare 2 kill or capture rewards
By completing the second mission of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign, you earn the What's Done Is Done animated emblem. You can equip it in multiplayer and Warzone 2 when it launches in a few weeks.
