The global launch of Squad Busters, a squad-building game from Finnish developer Supercell, is officially here. And if you're like many new players out there, you may be wondering what the deal is with the many Squad Busters heroes you can unlock, as well as the rarity and tier systems featured in the game.

In a game focused on overpowering enemies on the map and collecting the most gems, team synergy is absolutely key in Squad Busters.

Strategies and teamwork aside, the most important aspect of Squad Busters is understanding the characters that can make up your squad, what role they play in your team, and how to evolve them so that you can fully experience their capabilities.

In this guide, we'll answer all those questions, with a particular focus on explaining Squad Busters heroes Evolution, Classes, and Mega Units.

Squad Busters Heroes - What Are Evolutions?

There are over 30+ heroes available in Squad Busters with their own unique abilities. But what unites them is that they all start their beginning at your side as the same thing: a cute little baby.

Baby Heroes should be considered the hero's 'base' form, and it is only through Evolution that the hero will improve and 'grow up.'

The three Evolution ranks are Baby, Classic, and Super. However, Supercell has said that they'll be adding new tiers and forms later, so stay tuned for when they do.

Regardless, with each new Evolution, the Squad Busters hero gains a new ability. These abilities often improve on the last ability given at the previous Evolution, but some are wildly different, so be sure you want to evolve your hero before you take the step into the unknown.

Squad Busters Heroes - How Do I Evolve My Heroes?

To improve your Squad Buster heroes and evolve them, you must first find duplicates of said heroes and merge them. Depending on the rarity of characters, you may need to find more or less characters to merge before they can reach their new Evolution form.

For example, Nita, a Rare hero, needs 10 duplicates to be merged before they can evolve from Baby to Classic.

Evolution is important because each time you evolve a character, you also earn Portal Energy. This energy allows you to progress through different worlds and level up your Squad Journey.

Squad Busters Heroes - How Do I Collect Heroes?

With your Squad Busters heroes only getting stronger via Evolutions, you'll want to collect all of the heroes you possibly can. If you want to spend some money, you can do so via Squad Busters in-game shop.

On the other hand, if you've got time to kill, you can also earn heroes through playing matches. Each match you play and, no matter how well you score, you earn a chest that'll reward you with heroes. These heroes are randomly selected, so it may take you a while to get the ones you want, but that's at least the free way of progressing.

If you're shooting for Rare and higher quality heroes however, how well you do in a match does matter. The higher you score, the more your chest upgrades, which means the likelihood of you earning rarer heroes increases. So, do as well as you're able to!

Squad Busters Heroes - Class And Its Importance

Each Squad Busters hero is unique, and not just because they look different. No, each hero comes with a different class that sums up what their place in the team is.

As we don't have access to the game just yet, we're unable to see just how many classes there are in Squad Busters. That said, we do know there is the following classes:

  • Defender - These heroes are all about holding the frontline to protect others that make up your squad.
  • Healer - Heroes that are essential for keeping your other heroes in the fight, as well as enhancing their abilities with buffs.
  • Attacker - When you're in the middle of a fight, these heroes are the ones that'll cut you a path to victory.
  • Supplier - Heroes that'll make sure you never run out of what you need in battle.
  • Speedster - Having the speed to outwit other enemies will score you some points.
  • All-Rounder - A little bit of everything. A jack of all trades, but master of none.

Squad Busters Heroes - Rarity

When it comes to Squad Busters heroes, there are three types of rarity players should be aware of.

Common - Your base kit sort of hero. They get the job done.

Rare - Stronger than common with higher stats

Epic - The strongest out of the rarities, but harder to get.

Squad Busters Heroes - MEGA Units

As you play through a match, you'll come across chests that -- as we've established previously -- will give you different heroes that can join your squad.

However, sometimes you'll get lucky and open a chest that will have a MEGA Unit inside. These units are much bigger iterations of existing characters, but with unique visual twists. They are also much, much stronger and can really turn the tide of a match for players, especially those who are in last place. The downside is that they are much rarer to find in chests.

But fret not. There are other ways to get MEGA Units. They are consumable items that you can earn from your rewards, and purchase from the in-game store. The more MEGA Units you have, the higher the chance is to find them in chests during gameplay.

There you have it, that's everything there is to know about Heroes in Squad Busters so far. For more Squad Busters goodness, check out our pages on codes and where the game is available to play.
