Hitman 3 Year 2 Roadmap
Elusive Target Arcade
Launch Date: January 20th, 2022.
Elusive Target Arcade takes all of the tension from the basic elusive target challenges and triples it. In the new mode, you get to choose from several trials (with more being added throughout 2022). In these trials, you need to take down a few elusive targets one after the other. As with the elusive targets in the main campaigns, you will only get one chance to take them down in the trial. If you miss the shot or miss the opportunity to assassinate them, you will fail. After failing one of the targets, you will fail the whole trial and you will need to wait until the next day to attempt the challenge again. Luckily, the trials in the arcade mode are permanent so you can try them out whenever you'd like.
PC VR and Technical Improvements
Launch Date: January 20th, 2022.
Ever wondered what it feels like to actually be Agent 47? Well, PC players will no longer have to wonder! Hitman 3 will soon have PC VR where you can embody the legendary agent himself. That is not the only thing PC players have to look forward to, there are several major technical improvements coming to Hitman 3 for that platform. Raytracing will now be supported, giving better reflections and shadows in-game. Also, there will be variable rate shading. This is where the frame rate of your game will be decided by which graphics card you have, giving you the best gameplay experience possible.
Freelancer
Launch Date: Spring 2022.
Freelancer is a brand new and seemingly massive new mode for the game. In it, Agent 47 is going off on his own after various criminal enterprises. In this mode, you have a safe house that you can customise and this is where you can plan all of your assassinations before going on them.
Agent 47 can take on missions across the world to track down and assassinate leaders of various large criminal organisations. Which ones you go after and the order you go after them in is up to you. When you head off to start tracking down the leader of an organisation, you will go after a few smaller targets that are a part of their team. Then, eventually, you will be able to track down the leader. This is when it might get tricky. On each leader level, the leader is not actually clearly marked. You will have a few pieces of information that you will need to use to figure out who the leader is. If that wasn't tricky enough, there are NPCs hidden around these levels that work for the leader. They can make your assassination and escape tougher as they can alert the leader to your presence. All in all, you will need to use your wits and skills as an assassin to get through these missions.
You are not totally alone as there will be suppliers that you can buy items from within some areas. This can come in useful if you survey an environment and realise you need different equipment. However, if you die or drop these items on that mission then they will disappear along with the money you paid for them.
When you complete one of the missions in freelance mode, you are rewarded with exclusive weapons and gear that you can use across the entire Hitman 3 game.
We will update this section once we know more about this major new mode.
New Map
Launch Date: TBC
Right at the very end of the reveal stream, we were given a glimpse of a brand new map. There hasn't been any hint of a release date but the map looks like it might be worth the wait. It seems to be one based on a beach/tropical island with a military compound or militarised complex on it. With that sort of environment, it will be exciting to see the new challenges that could come with it.
Hitman Trilogy and Game Pass
Launch Date: January 20th, 2022
If you want to start the Hitman story from the very beginning, you will be able to get your hands on the digital Hitman Trilogy at the start of Year 2. In the trilogy, you will be able to play through Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3. It will be available on PlayStation, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox.
There is also some final good news for Xbox owners, the trilogy will be available for free for PC and Consoles on Game Pass on January 20th, 2022.
Hitman 3 tests your skills as an assassin and the additions coming in year 2 look like they will too. If you're playing through the game, take a look at our guide that details how many locations there are for you to explore. Also, we have a guide that shows you roughly how long it will take to beat the game by playing every mission once.
