Marvel Rivals has been dominating the gaming news cycle for the past month. After weeks of teases and reveals, the game had an impressive 10 million players during its first three days of launch.
While everyone has been raving about NetEase’s Overwatch clone, another game with a less popular IP is attracting almost the same player numbers.
Infinity Nikki v Marvel Rivals
Infinity Nikki is a dress-up game and is the fifth in the series of Love Nikki titles, and it also launched last week. What’s impressive is that this free-to-play game has also boasted that it’s earned over 10 million downloads—roughly the same as Marvel Rivals when they revealed their player count for the first few days.
To celebrate the achievement, the developers have announced that players will be given a gift of 10 Resonite Crystals that will appear in players’ mailboxes the next time they log into the game. This is available through the Pear-Pal feature, so you have to make sure that it’s unlocked for you in the game.
Note that the offer will only last until Dec. 31 this year, so players better act fast if they don’t want to miss out on free goods.
To unlock your Pear-Pal, just make sure to progress the story until you join Florawish Stylist’s Guild—that’s where you’ll be able to receive your Pear-Pal.
The Nikki Up2U Series Over the Years
Infinity Nikki is the fifth entry in a franchise that began in 2012. The series follows the character of Nikki and her cat Momo as they go on fashion-based adventures. Though the two started on Earth, future entries had them traveling to Miraland, where society revolves around fashion and different outfits come with different powers.
The entries in the series are as follows
- Nikki Up2U
- Hello Nikki - Let’s Beauty Up
- Love Nikki-Dress UP Queen
- Shining Nikki – Fashion Makeover
- Infinity Nikki
Infinity Nikki also marks a huge change in the genre since it now delivers an open world for players to explore.
The hype surrounding the release was definitely real. The Gamer reports that Infinity Nikki saw around 30 million users pre-register for the game.
After a successful launch, players wonder how long Infinity Nikki will be able to keep up its live service. After all, it’s a completely different animal from the Overwatch clone that is Marvel Rivals. Then again, we're looking at a completely different player base here. No wonder the game remained under the radar despite making the same numbers as one of the most buzzed-about titles for the last few months.
Hopefully, an announcement about an expansion or an event will come soon.
Infinity Nikki is now on PS5, PC, and mobile devices via Android and iOS.
