German football team acquire two professional FIFA players.

German football club VfL Wolfsburg have acquired two professional FIFA players from the ‘Meet Your Makers’ eSports organisation. 

‘The Wolves’, who currently sit second in this years Bundesliga, have signed Daniel ‘DaniTastic’ Fink and Benedict ‘Salz0r’ Salzer. They were presented at a press conference this afternoon, which also featured Wolfsburg Sporting Director Klaus Allofs. The two have been picked up on the back of the FIFA Interactive World Cup, with the club hoping the two experienced players can bring some success in the eSports world. 

Salzer is a veteran in the German FIFA community, competing since 2008. He has won three ESL tournaments, and placed well in the German FIFA scene for many years. Fink has also seen longevity in the FIFA scene, and comes from the highly touted MYM organisation, like Salzer. 

At the event, Wolfsburg Sporting Director Klaus Allofs stated; “Between the real and the digital football there are increasing number of intersections. The games will be from year to year more realistic and see both our professionals and our fans well received. With our commitment, we want to bring together the two worlds in the future even more closely.”

VfL Wolfsburg are not the first European team to enter the world of eSports. Turkish football club Beşiktaş acquired a League of Legends team in 2014, with the former Aces High squad joining the clubs eSports division.
