Modern Warfare Season 4, but new concept art has emerged that suggests Infinity Ward's gritty reboot of the subfranchise might not have always been rooted in realism.
The studio's Principal Artist, Aaron Beck, has shared "unused concept art from early in production" which shows us a glimpse of zombies in the shooter.
Modern Warfare Could Have Had Zombies
Shared on his Instagram, Beck explains that his idea was that Russian special forces would have robotic companions. In the image, those machines are holding three zombies captive.

Zombie Walker 💀 Finally got clearance to share more art from Modern Warfare! So to begin here’s an unused concept from early in production. I was thinking it would be fun to play with the classic Call of Duty zombie gameplay, hinting here at some sort of Russian special forces soldier and his duo of quadruped robots, holding captive zombified soldiers by leashes around their necks. #callofduty #modernwarfare #zombies #conceptart #aaronbeck
You can check out the images below. While the zombies are undeniably the main attraction, the robotic walking robots give off a strange Metal Gear feel. Here's hoping we get to see a more "off the wall" Call of Duty title again in the future.
