Warzone Season 5: CDL Champs Finals Weekend Shown Live In Verdansk Stadium

It looks like Verdansk Stadium will play host to the most prestigious Call of Duty esports event of the year.

Last week, COD Champs 2020 got underway and we saw all 12 CDL teams compete for their share of a $4.6 million prize pool.

With over 1,000,000 views being recorded on the fifth and final day of the broadcast, fans are excited to check out the finale this weekend.

Now it looks like fans may be able to engage in the action in a different way.

Verdansk Stadium To Stream CDL Champs

If you've been into the Verdansk Stadium, you may have spotted plenty of CDL banners and advertisements placed around the Warzone landmark.

The Stadium was opened up as part of the first major map change in Warzone Season 5.

It's been speculated for a while now that players would be able to watch live events in the Stadium, including the Call of Duty League; and rightfully so.

During the end of the CDL Playoffs stream yesterday, it was teased that players could watch the finals weekend inside Verdansk Stadium (watch from 6.47.35)

Clearly, Activision has looked at what their competitors have done (namely Epic Games' Fortnite) and decided that they want a piece of the action.

With Warzone set to evolve and be a cornerstone of future Call of Duty games, including Black Ops Cold War, small things like this can go a long way to promoting the game and keeping a healthy community active.

The CDL's debut year has been far from smooth, with COVID-19 impacting the ability to host offline events, forcing players to compete online.

This includes the biggest one of them all: COD Champs. While the traditional in-person method to watch the games may have disappeared, Activision are giving players the opportunity to gather in crowds and watch the action together from the safety and comfort of their own homes.
