Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 has millions of fans excited, which is why they were all crushed when Epic Games announced that the shooter will be down for 8 hours. Epic didn’t detail what the issue is, but it seems that the devs are going to need to work a ton to get it fixed.
On Twitter, the official Fortnite Status account confirmed that it would be down for 8 hours, due to an “unexpected issue” during maintenance. Naturally, Epic apologized to its audience for making them wait longer than usual, as the game is normally not down this long, at least in recent times.
“Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours,” wrote the account. “We apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to drop into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale. The team is working through this as quickly as possible, and we’ll provide another update when we have more info.”
Gamers everywhere were pretty excited to give Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 a shot, so this long delay is going to crush the hopes of many. It’s not the worst wait ever, as Final Fantasy XIV had to stop sales because too many people were playing it, but this is a major issue.
There’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to Chapter 5 Season 2, with fans looking forward to the unlockable God-like characters that are coming. It was also confirmed that Korra from The Legend of Korra would be joining the game, coming later on in the season. Before her announcement, there were rumours of an Avatar crossover coming to the game and this seems to be it.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is going to take a while longer, so fans will have to be patient and play other games first. Once things are better, gamers will be able to download the game on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
