Fans who pine for the days of Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter are in for some good news, as the complete series is now playable on PS5 with trophy support. This isn’t just the trilogy either, as the PSP games and Jak X are also available, so hardcore Jak fans can now relive these great titles.

As fans in the Jak and Daxter Eco-munnity have pointed out, every game in the series can now be purchased on PS5 and they all have trophy support. In addition to that, those with the more premium PS Plus packages should be able to play these games for “free.”

This is also the first time in history that Daxter has been released on home console, as the title was stuck on PSP and PS Vita for all these years. Luckily, anyone who purchased this game on the PSP or PS Vita should have received this title for free, much like the other classic gems in Sony’s PS Plus lineup.

Most of these games are pure platforming bliss, with the best game of the series either being the first Jak and Daxter or the edgy sequel Jak 2. Anyone who prefers classic platforming ala Banjo Kazooie or Super Mario 64 will prefer the first game, thanks to its colorful visuals and cartoony artstyle. On the other hand, those who like their platforming with a mix of GTA will love Jak 2, thanks to its more adult storyline and gun combat.

Regardless of your personal rankings, every game in the series is worth playing for one reason or another. Jak 3 focused more on classic platforming, while still finding room for open-world destruction and vehicular combat. Daxter is an excellent PSP platformer that features the beloved sidekick having his own adventure while Jak was captured at the beginning of Jak 2.

Admittedly, fans do have mixed opinions about the next two games on this list. Jak X: Combat Racing was a fine spin-off that continues the story from Jak 3, but the focus on racing was a turn-off for some. Meanwhile, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier felt like a filler story that had nothing to do with previous games, even if the overall gameplay was solid.

With all that being said, it’s just nice having the complete Jak and Daxter series on PS5 and PS4. Naughty Dog’s focus on more depressing games means they’ll never make games like these again, so fans who miss the company’s younger days should check these titles out.
