Star Wars Jedi Survivor is nearing release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, despite its original release planned exclusively for current generation consoles. With the game’s history of performance issues on more powerful devices, developer Respawn Entertainment has worked on bringing the game to the decade-old consoles.
Reported by VGC, Star Wars Jedi Survivor has officially been rated for release in Brazil. The region’s ratings board has officially classified the game for release across the two ageing devices, almost a year after the ports were announced.
Upon release, Star Wars Jedi Survivor was praised for its brilliant Star Wars story and sublime action-platformer gameplay. While it was undeniably one of the best Star Wars stories ever released, the game suffered from large performance issues, especially on PC.
After months of updates, Star Wars Jedi Survivor is now not only one of the best-looking games on modern platforms, but also stable. However, considering the game’s rancid performance profile on launch, how much has been compromised to bring the game to Xbox One and PS4?
We’ve already seen gorgeous next-gen focused games like Hogwarts Legacy make their debut on lower-power machines with significant cuts. For example, on the Nintendo Switch, Hogwarts Legacy has huge loading screens and lengthy loading zones that slice up its huge recreation of the titular wizards' school.
With the sheer graphical heft and large open environments that make up Star Wars Jedi Survivor, it will be interesting to see just what cuts have been made to bring Cal Kestis’ second story to weaker machines.
Following the last-gen ports of Survivor, Respawn Entertainment is also working on the series’ sequel, the final entry in Cal Kestis’ own Star Wars trilogy. While Cal Kestis could continue to pop up in comic books and Disney Plus shows, the plan is to finish the character’s journey with this final game.
